Blogger Challenge: Day 1

Yesterday began day one of the blogger challenge. But it’s not too late to join in. If you’re a blogger, writing or journal-er, this challenge is for you. Currently, we are in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic and so many challenges have flooded social media. I thought it would be fun to have a blogger challenge.

I must admit, there are many times that I experience writer’s block. And although I would love to use the shelter in place order to produce more content, but the “where do I start?” question halts the creative juices. So here’s to writing prompts to help push through!

Day one’s prompt is to write about a quote you try to live by. While I haven’t always known this quote, I recently stumbled upon it and haven’t been able to shake it since. It says:

One day or day one. You decide.

– Unknown

Simple yet so complex. As a person who is often stumped by doubt, fear and insecurity, this quote hit home. I dwell too much on the things that need to be perfected or polished which causes me to push the start of my dreams and desires to another day. And what seems like wisdom, is really worriment.

When my peers or loved ones make impactful suggestions or give encouragement, I habitually reply, “yeah, maybe one day.” Knowing that deep down, I’ll end up justifying my hesitation by convincing myself that I’m incapable or that I have to have my ducks in a row.

So I’ve decided to state more day ones than one days. This is day one of being more conscious of my rationalizations and discomforts. Day one of saying why not instead of why me. Day one of turning dreams into realities. I’ve decided: day one.
