If you could have any superpower, what would it be? As I continue on this life journey of adulting, the best choice would be to see the future. How cool would it be to see how your life is going to turn out…how c[razy]. Often enough, I find myself at a crossroads. I have to make a decision between two or even three different paths. Which way do I go? How will it turn out? What if I make a mistake and choose the wrong path? If only I could tap into my superpower to reveal to me which way…

Christmas is no doubt my favorite holiday and I’m so excited that it is rapidly approaching. I love gifts! I love to give gifts, receive them, dream of gifts that will never happen haha…you catch my drift. I love this season because gifts are given from the heart, from love. Gifts are not given because you have necessarily done something deserving, but because you are loved. In December, we celebrate the greatest gift of all. We are reminded of the best gift that came from love: grace. Jesus is grace in the flesh. You might recall from an earlier blog or from…

The Thanksgiving holiday has officially passed. It was short enough that I did not completely get out of my daily routine, but long enough to tell my body that it needs a break. At the Rasheed’s house, we celebrate on Thursday and Friday. Friends and family gather and we have sooooo much food and even more fun, which means I’m in No Sleep, Texas. Christmas is around the corner and I’ll probably catch up on sleep then right? You’re right…silly me, I’m an adult now. We’ve coined this term “adulting,” and quite frankly, it sucks. I truly blame my parents and…

It’s one of my favorite times of the year: Thanksgiving! I love it because we have a bunch of family and friends over for Thanksgiving day and the day after and get lost in the fellowship. As a nation, this time is reserved for everyone to take a second and reflect on the things that we are thankful for. Wow…a whole day! The other 364 days, we typically spend complaining. We complain about our jobs. We complain about our finances. We complain about our living arrangements. We complain about our spouses. We complain about our children. We complain because life is not…

“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” Luke 6: 27-28 (NASB) Agape love my enemies? Unconditionally love your enemies regardless of circumstances? Pray for those who mistreat me? Actually take my precious time to think about those who curse me? God, huh? So growing up in the church, we learned the infamous expression “turn the other cheek” early in life. I took the saying literally as a child. I thought, cool, if someone hits me in the face, I will turn…

“Lord, why are You giving others the exact things that I’m praying for? Please don’t pass me by.” Have you ever prayed this prayer? Or perhaps it just crossed your mind? If I’m really honest with myself, I have prayed this prayer too many times. As if I had forgotten that the Lord has never looked over me. Honesty hour: So I’ve had this consistent prayer recently for a substantial amount of time. Short enough for me to not completely throw in the towel but long enough for me to be envious of others. I get a text, open Instagram,…

Numbers 13. I heard a sermon from this chapter when I was in college and it has seriously stuck with me since that time. Spies went into the land of Canaan as the Lord instructed, assessed the enemy and came back with the conclusion that they were not strong enough to go up against the people. The Lord already told Moses in verse two that He was going to give them the land; however, they still felt defeated…inadequate. “And we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” (Verse 33) The pastor’s point that unbelief contaminates…

Me: Lord, if you just get me out of this situation with no consequences, I promise that I will never do this again. I will get in my word every day and work aggressively to stay on the straight and narrow. Also me: Does exactly what I told the Lord I was going to never do again. I want to take a different approach to this tee. When I first purchased it, sure I thought it was funny and I saw it from a perspective that I, as a believer, must be confident in the fact that because my God is…

I used to consider one of my younger sisters to be very lucky. Growing up, she could find money everywhere…seriously, everywhere. On the street, in the couch, at church, in the store, it did not matter. However, there was no such thing as claiming money from the washing machine in my house. That was always my mom’s money. But I admit, I was envious and thought that it was about time for some luck to come my way. And that’s how I determined by luck; by “good things” randomly happening. I soon realized that this way of thinking is basically a…
